Donald Trump's First Cabinet Pick?

I've been a rather avid follower and commentor at Chicks on the Right since their founding in 2008, at the beginning of the Obama years. They were a breath of fresh, humorous, Conservative air in a toxic atmosphere of Leftist propaganda and ridicule,which is why I still follow them now. If you read this and haven't given them a visit, you can do so here.

According to them, President Elect Donald Trump has offered the position of National Security Adviser to Lt. General Michael Flynn. Who is that, you may be asking, if you're as ignorant of Trump's cabinet choices as I am, so here's the scoop:

Wikipedia has him listed as former director of the DIA from 2012 to 2014, commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and chair of the Military Intelligence Board from July 24, 2012, to August 2, 2014. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Director of National Intelligence.

I would say this gives him a host of credentials that make him at least an adequate choice for the job. Given Trump's reported history of choosing competent people to delegate decisions to, I'd say this is a good sign based on that. Word has yet to come as to whether or not Lt. General Flynn has accepted or declined, but I have a feeling we'll be hearing about that within the next few days, or possibly weeks.

The LGBTQ Community is Afraid of William Pryor. Who is William Pryor?

Someone named William Pryor is currently on the short list for President Elect Donald Trump's pick for the Supreme Court. This is, admittedly, the first time I've heard of this man, so I did a little digging trying to find out who he was. A quick Google search reveals that the LGBTQ folks are up in arms over the mere possibility of this man becoming a Supreme Court Justice, so I decided to find out why. Here's what I found:

Gay advocacy site The Gaily Grind has claimed that Judge Pryor believes gays should be jailed simply for...being gay. Looking a little further into the matter, I discovered that their idea that this man wants such a thing is because of a legal brief in which Judge Pryor wrote that there is no fundamental right to homosexual sex, and that he upheld a Texas anti-sodomy law on that basis.

Lambdalegal.com also believes this to be the reason Pryor is unfit to judge, but offers nothing tangible other than that single legal brief and the anti-sodomy law that was, I found out, struck down by the Supreme Court ruing on Lawrence v. Texas. The actual quote provided in regards to said sodomy law, however, reveals a different story:

"Petitioners' protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, a constitutional right that protects "the choice of one's partner" and "whether and how to connect sexually" must logically extend to activities like prostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia," Brief of the States of Alabama, South Carolina, and Utah as Amici Curiae in Support of Respondent, Lawrence v. Texas, No. 02-102

An objective observer can see from that quote alone that Judge Pryor is not saying that homosexuals should be jailed for for simply existing, as The Gaily Grind's headline and article claim. Rather, a more objective look at the quote tells us that Judge Pryor is saying simply that in order for the argument of a constitutional right to homosexual behavior to hold water, we must also apply that logic to other sexual activities such as the above listed in the quote. In order for a statement to be logically sound, it has to hold up in more than just one instance, and the idea of a constitutional right to be gay means that there also has to be a constitutional right to those, and a host of other behaviors for which there exists no inherent constitutional right.

I would have used a different list of behaviors, honestly, but the argument is still sound, and has nothing to do with jailing anyone. In fact further looking into the linked Wikipedia entry at the beginning of this post, it seems that above all, Pryor puts the written law above personal feelings, just as a judge is supposed to do. The following quote sums it up rather nicely:

Pryor received national attention in 2003 when he called for the removal of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who had disobeyed a federal court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama Judicial Building. Pryor said that although he agreed with the propriety of displaying the Ten Commandments in a courthouse, he was bound to follow the court order and uphold the rule of law. Pryor personally prosecuted Moore for violations of the Canons of Judicial Ethics, and the Alabama Court of the Judiciary unanimously removed Moore from office.^[5]

Hardly the attitude of an anti-gay theocrat tyrant, wouldn't you say?

In fact, the only sites I see decrying the possible appointment of Pryor are severely biased left-wing  and pro-LGBT sites such as Advocate, Gaily Grind, Pinknews, and others. To me, this smacks of simple fear mongering and paranoia over the unknown. There is no evidence anywhere that I know of, whether verbal or written, to suggest that the claim is true. More evidence to suggest that fears over William Pryor are unjustified can be found in the supposed "story" of William Pryor posing for a gay magazine a couple of decades ago. Well, Snopes has a few things to say about that. 

The Three Dumbest Non-Issues of This Campaign Season

Boy, what a difference a campaign makes. Just a few months ago I was lamenting over Newt Gingrich's loss to Mitt Romney in the Republican primary, sure that, even though I was willing to hold my nose and vote for the RINO we'd been stuck with, I was sure we'd be saddled with another four years of Barack Obama, and I'd be witnessing the end of the Republic as we know it because of Barack having "more flexibility" with his cronies both here and abroad. Now? I'm practically salivating to vote for Mitt. Not only because all the signs point to his eventual victory in November, but because there was simply more to the Mitt-ster than met the eye on first glance. Where I thought he was simply the flip flopper everyone tried to make him, from his Republican challengers to the leftist smear machine, it turned out that the candidate we ended up with would actually be more than qualified for the job of President of the United States. This has become more and more apparent with Romney's rise in the polls, his trouncing of Obama in both debates, and now, most obviously, from the fact that the Left is absolutely reeking with the same scent of desperation that permeated from John McCain's presidential campaign in 2008. By this time in that year, the McCain camp had pretty much folded, ceding Michigan, a state that had been in play up until the moment they'd pulled out, from my understanding. Well, now it's the left's turn to panic, and panic they are. Here are the three most hilariously stupid ways that their fear is showing:

3. Big Bird

We all know Big Bird. He is the nine foot yellow Muppet that talked to other multicolored Muppets at his address of 123 Sesame Street, and still does so to this day, to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars annually. Making children love learning seems to be quite the lucrative profession for these guys, given that they've been on the air for several decades. I have a special place in my heart for the Sesame Street gang, and I always will. But to the Left, apparently, Big Bird is the be all and end all of everything everywhere ever in the history of all time, because when Mitt Romney mentioned during the debate that he was planning on cutting the public funding for PBS, the nut jobs on the other side of the river thought that a sign of the Apocalypse had been discovered, due to the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the media. The Huffington Post made hay about the governor's "Big Bird Problem", another website made no qualms and said that Romney wanted to "kill Big Bird", and the Washington Post also had no issues with baldly stating that Big Bird would "haunt Mitt Romney".

What the bleeding heck!? All these issues to talk about and your first attempt to stomp all over your opponent is BIG BIRD!? Seriously? You really think, lefties, that the election hinges on whether or not the tax payers are still handing over their hard earned money so that Big Bird and the Muppets can continue to teach kids to count to 12? Got news for you, kiddies. Those same moms? The ones with kids to feed and cars to fill with gas, as well as most likely paychecks that get deprived of take home pay to supply Big Bird with HIS paycheck? They're probably more concerned with filling those gas tanks and ensuring that those kids have food to eat more so than whether or not a fictional character is still on TV. Also, moonbats, taxpayers only pay a small fraction of Big Bird's paycheck. The rest comes from private citizens in the form of charitable donations. I don't think Big Bird is in any danger of being homeless or being taken off the boob tube any time soon.


2. Binders Full of Women

This was the one I'd only heard about during the last debate. Apparently, during his tenure as governor of the Bay State, Romney went out of his way to offer flexible hours to women who worked in his cabinet because they wanted to make sure they could get home in time to make dinner for their kids. When Romney made this point in his defense of his record during said debate, apparently women everywhere were outraged. How dare this unwitting representative of the non-existent Patriarchy offer FLEXIBLE HOURS to WOMEN to MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE EASIER!? Lynch that bastard right now! He's obviously a sexist pig who wants to keep women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen! *snark function off*. Never mind of course, that women made up half of the governor's cabinet while he was in office. Never mind that one of his former employees absolutely GUSHED over how great a boss Mitt Romney was, and never mind that Romney went out of his way to hire women because he thought there weren't enough women working in his administration. He was probably doing all that just to cover up his natural woman-hating Republican meanness!

Yeah, right. Oh, and I guess I lied about the snark being off.

The Left even went so far as to say that Mitt using the term "binders full of women" was a sexist dog whistle, because apparently they've run out of words to use to blame him for being a racist. Does no one on the left realize that he meant RESUMES!? Resumes that are kept in BINDERS so that they're on hand for review?

Please, someone put some chlorine in the gene pool. For the good of humanity!


1. Mitt's Son Tagg Totally Wants to Punch the President in the Face

This has got to be by far the stupidest non-issue I've seen so far, but there are still three weeks left to go before Obama gets his pink slip,  so there could very well be more. Until then, this is in my top spot, and there it shall stay. Legal Insurrection brought this to my attention this morning, which was what inspired me to write this entire post, actually. So thank you, Professor Jacobson, for being the muse I needed to start blogging again. The story goes a little something like this: Apparently Tagg Romney was being interviewed by the LSM at some point, and they asked him how he felt when he saw that the left was ruthlessly attacking his father using untruths and slander. He replied to them that it made him what to "jump out of the chair" and "punch the President in the face." Well, that was the end of the story right there for the Left, who immediately tried to make Tagg sound like a terrorist for daring to use such words as "punch",  "face" and "president" in the same breath. But as usual, there was a whole other side to the story that they either did not pursue out of negligence or did not pursue out of complete idiocy. I like the idea that it was both.

The reality, of course, as Professor Jacobson rightly points out, is that the clip was doctored in the media to be cut off immediately after the word "face" was spoken. In reality, Tagg said of the president that he would LIKE to punch the guy in the face sometimes, but because of the Secret Service and the fact that this whole mudslinging thing is par for the course, that you just have to roll with the punches. Sounds like a pretty reasonable stance on issues to me, no? not if you're a lefty, it would seem.

In conclusion: Let the stupidity and desperation continue. Honestly, they  can only get worse from here on out, as the polls continue to surge in Romney's favor and Obama continues to stumble his way through the debate process. I'll be nearby popping popcorn and getting ready to watch Monday's debate, and to watch the third and final time that Mitt scores a victory over the Boy King.

Andrea Mitchell Gives a Lesson in how to be Incompetent at her Job

Nothing gets me giddy more than seeing liberal media toads get taken down a peg or two by us redneck Bible thumpers. This has already made the rounds of the internet by now, of course, but I'm sure there are some who read this who haven't heard the story. If indeed that is the case, here it is: MSNBC propagandist Andrea Mitchell, in an attempt to make Mitt Romney look like an out of touch rich snob, presented the following video on her program a couple of nights ago:

Ron Paul: Leftist?

I just got this hat tip from Chicks on the Right's Facebook post: Ron Paul has apparently turned to the left in his views on why 9/11 happened. Ron Paul was never my guy. Way too much of an isolationist, in my view, in a world where the United States can no longer completely cut itself off from the rest of the globe. His views are his, however, and I respect his right to have them. However, he will not win the presidency if he starts spouting garbage like THIS:



That, for those of you who didn't watch, is Ron Paul, potential nominee for the Republican Presidential ticket, spouting the same garbage that Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaeda have been spouting for the last ten years. There was a time when I thought I might actually vote for Ron Paul. Not anymore.

The Elite in this Country are Definitely NOT British, it seems

Looking at the reaction of the left in light of the rise of the Tea Party, one would never surmise that we descended from those tea-loving crumpet eaters, the British. Let me give you an example of what I mean:

Just a Conservative Girl has posted on the tragedy involving the representative who was shot in Arizona today, and has linked to a tweet by none other than Hanoi Jane herself, Jane Fonda. The traitorous Hollywood liberal had the audacity, as many on the left have had since the Tea Party gained steam, to blame the violence against the Arizona Democrat on the Tea Party itself, all without evidence to support the claim. She is joined in this endeavor by none other than Paul Krugman of the New Snark Times. Here is the tweet from Fonda:

Progressive Arizona Rep Gabrielle Giffords is shot. In her ads, Sarah Palin had her targeted in a gun site. Inciting to violence.

Fonda is referring to a map that shows districts wherein there were candidates for re-election that Palin sought to unseat in last year's elections.

Never mind that the ads in question was put on the air over a year ago, in preparation for the elections. Never mind that people are responsible for their own actions and that not that many people do something just because someone tells them it's okay. And never mind that the map Jane Fonda refers to was a SURVEY MAP and the markers were SURVEY MARKERS, used typically to target potential ore deposits in preparation for mining. But then, that's typical of the leftists in Hollywood and in Washington. They think we average Americans are too stupid to know any better when people use metaphor and hyperbole to make a point. Why else would they think we're nothing more than pawns of the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh? At least that insult tells me that they think we're capable of obeying commands. Paul Krugman doesn't even allow us that much intelligence, given how many of his columns have found eloquent and flowery ways to use the word "stupid" when referring to Americans.

I read his column, though it kills brain cells each time I do, and I am not surprised at all that Krugman, before anyone knew anything about the shooter, even his name, Krugman was out there blaming the Tea Party and the right wing for a deed that they are completely innocent of. Conservative Girl explains:

Paul Krugman couldn't even bothered to wait until more information was known before they decided to weigh in and blame the right for this horrifying act of violence. Krugman came out with his statement before the name of the shooter was known and what the press was reporting was that he was a war vet. There is enough information about the shooter now for Krugman to realize that this is a matter of a very delusional young man who didn't seem to have grip on reality. In one you tube video he is burning the American flag, in other he has a diatribe about the constitution and mind control.

Now I know Krugman doesn't like the right, but come on. Even he can't be THAT lazy...well, maybe he can.

Can we please just let the woman recover without turning her near death experience into a political pissing contest that tries to prove whether Liberalism is superior to Conservatism? Please?

The Mosque, the Elections, and the Rising Tide of Backlash

I think I'm going to do something I don't normally do on this blog: tell everyone how I'm doing. It's been a little over three weeks, I believe, since I posted last. Reason being is because I've been trying to get other things straightened out in real life, leaving me with little time to rant and rave about Washington, Obama, the Left-Stream Media, and other such topics that make my blood boil. As such, the energy just hasn't been there.

I've heard all about every hot topic lately, from the Ground Zero Mosque, to the shit hole of an economy we're in, to the president claiming he supported the surge when he in fact did not. The good news is that I can definitely see some "green shoots" as Ben Bernanke called them, in my own life if not in the nation as a whole. My bank account has stayed in the positive for the first time in over three years, and I'm ecstatic that I'm finally going to be making money instead of spending money I don't have to cover bills, thanks to cost cutting, spending restraint, and once my fiance gets her old job back, additional income. In short, everything the left thinks won't work to save our floundering economic status in the world. Let's hope the trend continues.

And now for the weigh-ins on various topics, some of which are coming late:

1. The Mosque: As someone who has nothing but absolute contempt for the people who dared murder three thousand innocent Americans in the name of the so-called "Religion of Peace", there really is nothing for me to say on this matter other than DON'T BUILD IT! I went into this relentlessly with my aunt and a few of her fellow lefties, and was rebuffed by having my arguments dismissed as nothing more than lies and "talk radio fear mongering". Granted, it wasn't my aunt that said those things, but she does have a habit of immediately assuming that my opinions are not informed or thought out, which burns my biscuits just a bit.

2. The Elections: It's going to be a Republican landslide and the left knows it. Watching Bill, Beck, and Hannity on FOX News last night, I saw several analysis', that when taken together tell me one thing: Abandon all hope, ye who run for re-election on the Democratic or Republican Incumbent side. John McCain, so far, is the only Republican incumbent I know of who has survived his primary/re-election. Not entirely sure if he'll win his seat again, but winning the primary was a huge hurdle that he once again cleared. As for November in general, we'll see a Republican majority in one if not both houses, simply because the numbers, momentum, and public opinion are all on the Right this time around, just as they were in 1994 when Clinton governed this far to the left, and on much of the same ideas and principals. Difference? Clinton knew who signed his check and complied with the voters, if only to secure his re-election.

3. The Rising Tide of Backlash: I touched on this above, but it's not just democrats that are in trouble here. Republican establishment figures like Lindsay Graham, Olympia Snowe, and others had better watch out. This wave is crashing, and once it swallows the dem majority, if you don't learn to swim, you'll drown along with them.

4. The President and his Oval Office Address: So we're finally coming home after 9 long years bringing stability and order to the Iraqi people, after relieving them of a ruthless and bloodthirsty dictator who committed genocide against his own people with chemical weapons, kept torture chambers beneath his palace, and allowed his sons to run those chambers. I'd say, Mission Accomplished, but Mr. President, YOU didn't give us this victory. All you're doing is bringing the boys home after GWB did the dirty work for you, and after you OPPOSED the very tactics that brought us the victory you are now touting as your own. We see through it, Obi. We're not fooled, and you're a fool if you think we are.
